CFOP Cross

To solve the cross faster, learn to plan moves during inspection and use simple inserts to build it on the bottom with fewer moves.

Here are some tips to solve cross faster:

Don’t Use the Daisy: The daisy method is useful for beginners, but it's inefficient and slow for speedsolving. It adds unnecessary steps—learn to go straight to the cross.

Solve on Bottom: Build the cross on the bottom face instead of the top. This lets you look ahead into F2L while finishing the cross, which saves a lot of time later.

Track One Piece at a Time: If solving all 4 during inspection is hard, start by tracking 2 or 3 and slowly build your way up. Focus on placing them relative to each other efficiently.

Plan More During Inspection: Try to track all 4 cross pieces before you start your solve. This way, you won’t waste time mid-solve figuring out where each piece is.

Minimize Rotations: Keep your rotations to a minimum—ideally zero. Try to solve pieces with only D, F, R, L, and U moves when possible.

Use Fewer Moves: Aim to solve the cross in 6–8 moves. Practice optimizing solutions and learn to spot more efficient ways to solve pairs of pieces at the same time.

Record and Review: Watch your cross solutions during solves or record yourself. You’ll spot inefficient moves or habits like unnecessary U turns or cube rotations.
